About us
History
Established in 2005, Work Skills Learning (WSL) worked with the Learning & Skills Council to help colleges, training companies and prisons implement a new approach to education. WSL advised management on how they could provide a whole-organisation Skills for Life approach to their training programmes – which promoted literacy and numeracy across the organisation and all courses.
In 2006 Work Skills Learning partnered with The Southover Partnership and began to offer vocational courses for children and young adults. Our adult services also expanded through a new partnership with the Hackney Learning Trust, and WSL offered employability skills and business start up courses for adults from deprived communities.
Staff
Work Skills Learning staff are experienced and caring professionals – essential qualities in meeting the needs of the people we work with.
The Managing Director is Dayo Adeagbo. Although trained in economics, he moved into the education sector when he worked as a volunteer teacher at Pentonville Prison. He taught a business start-up class and maths and was soon taken on as a full-time teacher. Dayo also taught a business start-up class for entrepreneurs at the Mary Ward Centre and studied for his PGCE.
From 2000-2005 Dayo was the Head of Education at Feltham Young Offenders, responsible for providing education for children aged 11-17 and 18-21. Dayo engaged reluctant learners in inclusive education, supporting children to develop into better adults, and completed a Masters Degree in inclusive education.
